New Patients & FAQ

  • Acupuncture is a safe, effective way to treat a variety of conditions. If this is your first time trying acupuncture, please don't feel intimidated by the "needle factor"; it is also relatively painless! Kelly makes sure all patients feel welcome, safe, and taken care of. Please feel free to reach out with any questions prior to your first appointment. You will also have the opportunity to ask questions during any of your treatments.

Your first visit will include a comprehensive review of where you are currently in your health journey. The appointment will last 90 minutes to allow for both an in-depth intake and a full-length treatment. Follow-up treatments last about an hour. The course and frequency of treatment depend on the severity of the condition. A more acute problem may resolve within a couple of treatments, whereas a complicated, chronic condition may require more long-term care.

The best way to book is online through the secure patient portal where you will also find new patient forms to fill out prior to your first appointment. We are also happy to set you up with an appointment over the phone or email, particularly if you have any questions prior to scheduling.

  • Cash, checks, major credit cards (Visa, MC, AmEx, and Discover), and HSA/FSA debit cards are accepted here. We are also on Venmo: @papercraneacupuncture

We are in-network with Anthem BCBS, Harvard Pilgrim, Aetna, and some Cigna plans currently. Each individual plan is different and may or may not have some degree of acupuncture coverage. You can call your insurance provider to find out, or we can check for you.

If you have another insurance carrier that covers acupuncture with out-of-network providers, we are happy to give you an itemized receipt (superbill) to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement, though you will need to pay upfront for services rendered.

  • We often have a waitlist for appointment times. If you need to cancel an appointment, please notify us at least 24 hours in advance, so we can offer the appointment to someone else in need. I understand that emergent situations may come up last minute, and exceptions will be made in these circumstances. No-shows will be billed for the missed treatment.
